Plant of the month : Mimosa dealbata ‘Gaulios’

Mimosa dealbata ‘Gaulios’

The Mimosa Tree is a lovely tree to light up late winter and very early Spring – fluffy yellow, sweetly scented ball-shaped flowers will cover the ends of the branches, giving it a sunshine quality seldom seen in very early Spring.

Growing in to an evergreen tree with a pale green trunk and large, feathery glaucous leaves, Mimosat is loved the world over, and if the gift of choice in Italy on International Womens Day.

It will make an ideal conservatory plant if you have room, but is also perfectly fine outside, best in gardens that are south facing or slightly sheltered.

Supplied at around 7ft tall in approx 3-5 litre containers, full of buds and blooms in season, don’t miss the vibrant yellow blossoms from around February onwards.
